Florence is one of Arizona's oldest towns - the Pinal County seat, founded in 1866 - but its residential growth story is entirely modern, and it lives at Anthem at Merrill Ranch on the town's northwest side, well apart from the historic core.
Merrill Ranch is a Del Webb and Pulte master plan with two clear worlds inside it. Sun City Anthem at Merrill Ranch is the 55-plus, age-restricted side, building single-level active-adult homes since 2006 - standardized floor plans, wide reachable windows, exactly the stock shutters suit best. Anthem Parkside is the all-ages family side, with D.R. Horton and Meritage two-stories carrying the era's arch-top windows, tall sliders, and two-story great-room glass. Both are anchored by the Poston Butte golf course and a big community recreation center.
That gives Florence a familiar double rhythm: the 2006-onward Del Webb homes are now old enough that the original builder blinds are giving out - a first-replacement wave - while new Parkside builds keep arriving with bare windows.
